Our Story
In January 2013, our daughter, Macie, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia at 3 years old. Over the next 2 1/2 years, she endured more than most adults could ever handle - port placement, bone marrow biopsies, various chemotherapy drugs and their side effects, anesthesia, and more.
After she was diagnosed, we prayed that God would use Macie's pain and our suffering for His Good. One of the ways that God answered that prayer is through an organization called Lighthouse Family Retreat, which we continue to partner with to serve other families living through the nightmare of childhood cancer.
Ten years later, Macie is thriving. Serving at Lighthouse is contagious and has inspired us to do more, which led us to start HopeRVA - so that we can serve even more families who are dealing with a childhood cancer diagnosis in the greater Richmond, Virginia (RVA) region.
